WEST PARIS — The First Universalist Church of West Paris has announced that
with the end of June comes the end of services at the church until September.
Services for June feature traditional themes as well as some surprises. The services are held at 9 a.m. Sundays, September through June, and all are welcome.
June 7: Blessing the Animals, led by the Worship Service Committee.
June 14: Miss Forbes Returns: A Portrayal by the Rev. Fayre Stephenson. The
Rev. Eleanor Bicknell Forbes was the beloved minister of the First Universalist Church of West Paris from 1922 to 1949 and Minister Emerita until her death in 1955. During the early 1900s Forbes was also one of the founders of Ferry Beach, the Unitarian Universalist Camp and Conference Center in Saco. Stephenson will pay tribute to Forbes, recreating a worship service she might have led. This is also New Member Sunday.
June 21: Flower Communion led by Stephenson. At the last service of the
church year, she will tell the story of the origins of the Flower Communion and members will celebrate a Flower Communion. They are invited to bring flowers from their garden and there will be plenty of flowers to share.
June 28: The congregation will attend the 9 a.m. Sunday worship service at the Mission Congregational Church, West Paris.
The First Universalist Church of Sumner, 1148 Main St., West Sumner, will hold 11 a.m. Sunday worship services in July and August. Refreshments will follow the services.
