FAYETTE — Warm, sunny skies greeted families for the 7th Annual Fayette Fun Festival. Thanks to the generous support of many area businesses and individuals, there were lots of activities for children to enjoy at the Fayette Central School.
For just $5, children could take a pony ride, make their way through an inflated obstacle course, jump in a bounce house, use different sized wands to make bubbles, and plant a seedling to take home. Children could explore several large pieces of equipment used by the town or try to hit a target using a fire hose from one of the town’s fire trucks.
Children could also make their way through a small tunnel, play the lollipop toss game, create a sand sculpture and get their face painted. Digging for dinosaurs, an ice bucket challenge game, a nature walk, and a photo booth were other activities youngsters could enjoy.
The Kennebec County Sheriff Department brought a portable jail where some attendees were placed. It required payment of a quarter to be released. Several pamphlets were available and each youngster could select a stuffed animal to take home.
Inside the school, a book fair was set up and a variety of foods were for sale. A candy drop, cupcake walk, and scavenger hunt were held at designated times throughout the day.
Gloria Tillson from Windsor, whose sister is the school librarian, comes every year. She usually brings a bunch of her great grandchildren. We always have fun,” she said.
