AUBURN — Beacon Hospice honored two veterans with a pinning ceremony for their service to the country as part of the We Honor Veterans program. Kyla Greenwood, volunteer coordinator at Beacon Hospice, pinned each of the veterans with an American flag pin and presented them each with a certificate of appreciation. They also received a hand-knit American flag, a hand-sewn patriotic quilt and a book to record military memories in.
Lewis Faulkingham was honored on April 27. Faulkingham, a former Marine at the Maine Veterans Home in South Paris, was joined by his daughter, Wendy Faulkingham, his wife, Betty and sister-in-law along with staff at the facility and from Beacon Hospice.
Roger Robichaud was honored on May 15. Robichaud is an Army and National Guard Veteran who resides at Clover Manor in Auburn. He was joined by his wife, Claire, other family members, friends and staff at Clover.
The National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization partnered with the Department of Veterans Affairs in 2010 to create a program called We Honor Veterans to address concerns about access to hospice and palliative care and to respond to the needs of veterans.
