LEWISTON — A 25-year-old St. Mary’s Region Medical Center dietitian announced her plans to seek the City Council seat in Ward 7.

In a written statement, Kristine Kittridge said she plans to seek the position held by Michael Lachance.

She said she cares deeply about Lewiston and sees opportunities to provide new ideas and energy to the council.

“Since joining the Lewiston community, I have felt nothing but welcoming and excited energy around creating new possibilities for all of the residents of this great city,” she said. “I look forward to the chance to be an open and available ear for my neighbors while facing both the challenges and opportunities addressing our city.”

Kittridge is an Orono native and graduate of the University of Maine for her undergraduate and master’s degrees. She has worked as a registered dietitian in a variety of settings, including community nutrition education, health coaching and clinical nutrition.

All of Lewiston’s elected positions are up this November, including the mayor, seven city councilors and eight School Committee members.

Lewiston’s election cycle kicks off July 6. Candidates can begin circulating nomination petitions then and need to complete and return them to the City Clerk’s office by Sept. 4 to receive a spot on the ballot.
