SOUTH PORTLAND — The Maine Association of Realtors says home values and sales volume increased steadily in May.
The association says 1,335 single-family existing homes changed hands during the month. That is an increase of 2.53 percent. The median sale price for the homes was $185,000, which is an increase of 8.86 percent.
The trends in Maine reflect sales at the national level. The National Association of Realtors says the nationwide median sales price rose 8.6 percent in May to $230,300.
Home sales in Maine increased by the highest percentage in Knox County, where they jumped 20 percent. The highest increase in value was also in Knox, where values climbed 15.36 percent. Lincoln County had the highest drop in value at 8.06 percent.
