WEST FARMINGTON — A memorial visitation for Glenwood Bangs Farmer of West Farmington was held Tuesday evening, June 23, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Wiles Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Road, (Routes 2 and 27) Farmington.

His ashes were escorted to Fairview Cemetery, Farmington, by members of the Farmington Fire Department on Wednesday morning at 9:45 a.m., and private family committal services were held at 10 a.m. A Celebration of Life Service followed at 1 p.m. at the Henderson Memorial Baptist Church, 10 Academy St., Farmington, with Rev. Dr. Susan Crane officiating.

Following the Lord’s Prayer, the congregation sang Glen’s favorite hymn, “The Old Rugged Cross.” Daniel Woodward was the organist and also a soloist, accompanying himself on guitar for the performance of “Amazing Grace.”

The Old Testament Reading was Ecclesiastes 3:1-5, followed by Psalm 23 (in unison). Remembrances were offered by longtime friend and former co-worker, Skip Wyman; neighbors, Cindy Blodgett and Bernice Hoisington; his son, Greg Farmer; son-in law, Alton Hyer; and friends, Al McDaniel and Brent Smith. The congregation hymns later included “Leaning on the Everlasting Arms” and “In The Garden.” Scripture readings were Deuteronomy 33:27a and Matthew 6:25-27 and 33-34.

Following the Prayer of Thanksgiving, The Farmington Fire Department performed The Firefighters Ceremony. S. Clyde Ross recited the Firefighter’s Prayer and Chief Terry Bell concluded with the ringing of the bell.

Following the service, a reception was held in the Fellowship Hall, hosted by the HMBC Fellowship Committee.
