FARMINGTON — On Saturday, July 11, Stan & Dan & Julie will bring their unique brand of country-folk-bluegrass singing and picking to the park-like back yard of Mosher’s Seafood-N’-More, 595 Farmington Falls Road, Rte. 2, Farmington. Music will begin at 4 p.m.
Stan & Dan & Julie are better known as two-thirds of the Sandy River Ramblers, a popular area bluegrass band. The trio are also part of the Maranacook String Band, and Stan and Dan have played many times in the region as a duo. Stan Keach (guitar) is a nationally-known bluegrass songwriter who in recent years has concentrated on songs about Maine. His CD, “Cry of the Loon” and other original songs about Maine, has been praised by columnist George Smith as “a gift to Mainers.” Dan Simons (mandolin) is a virtuoso instrumentalist and a gifted harmony and lead singer. Julie Churchill (upright bass) has, according to Keach, “possibly the most beautiful voice in central Maine.
Professor Smartypants (aka Mark Horn) a popular area banjoist/singer will share the bill with the trio. Admission is free.
