BETHEL — The Mahoosuc Arts Council will hold a free Theater Play Workshop from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, July 4, at the Bethel Common.

The workshop, led by performance artist Rijah Newell, is being held in conjunction with the annual Bethel Art Fair and is geared toward children interested in creative movement and improvisation.

People interested in the workshop can sign up from 9:30 to 10 a.m. July 4 at the Mahoosuc Arts Council booth.

Newell is the founder and artistic director of Trash Into Art, a grass-roots street theater company that uses recycled objects to create costumes and puppets that are used in skits and revolve around different environmental messages.

She is also the former performances director of the Norway Arts Festival, and is attending classes at the Circus Conservatory of America in Portland.
