MEXICO – Police Chief Roy Hodsdon said the department will hold its sixth bike rodeo of the year Sunday, July 12, in the Mountain Valley Middle School parking lot.

Bike rodeos help younger children learn safety and how to ride, he said.

“We inspect the children’s bikes and make sure they’re safe, and teach them about bike safety,” the chief said. “Everyone at the bike rodeos we’ve held have really seemed to enjoy it.”

In 2014, Hodsdon said he and his officers held a couple of bike rodeos.

“We did a bike rodeo in Bethel that we didn’t do last year, and the town of Jay got ahold of us about doing a bike rodeo,” Hodsdon said. “We’re definitely a lot busier than we were last year.”

Hodsdon said further information on the bike rodeo will be on the department’s Facebook page.
