The Treat Memorial Library thanks everyone who participated in our Cash Everyday in June fundraiser. Your support is greatly appreciated! We also thank those who contributed to the local food bank during our first annual Food for Fines month. Look for it again next year!

The Every Hero Has a Story Summer Reading Program will continue to collect non-perishable food items through July and August. Let’s continue to fill up their shelves!

Speaking of the Summer Reading Program, our programs continue in July every Thursday at 6 p.m. Celebrate historical, mythological, and community heroes with stories, games, crafts, and food! Chewonki Traveling Nature Program will be here July 16th to present Hero Adaptations, a look at how some of the most beloved superheroes were inspired by amazing animals. Learn about uncanny animal abilities and also get the chance to enter a statewide contest by creating your own hero!

This program is free and open to the public. Be a superhero of reading this summer and don’t forget to fill in those reading logs! Preschool Story Time continues throughout the summer as well on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.

The Teen Writing Group will be meeting on Tuesdays July 7th and July 21st at 6 p.m. All area teen writers are encouraged to attend. Each writer will receive a writing journal full of prompts to inspire the creative process. Get helpful hints, support, and encouragement from the group and from the occasional visiting writer. Keep your creative spark alive throughout the summer!

Our Spring Book Club has become a summer book club as we continue our series on Maine authors. We are enjoying the variety that our regional authors have to offer- so far we have discussed a novel, a mystery, and a memoir. Please contact Assistant Director Brianna if you are interested in getting a copy of our next book up for discussion. Our next meeting will take place on July 9th at 3 p.m. Our great group of readers would be happy to welcome you!

Our garden is looking gorgeous thanks to the efforts of our Trustee gardeners John Beaudoin and Lynn Knight. Thank you both for your hard work! Stop by and have a look at our beautiful flowers.
