LEWISTON — The Public Theatre was recognized as the “Best Theatre in Maine” by Down East Magazine’s Readers’ Poll for the third year.

Co-artistic directors Christopher Schario and Janet Mitchko accepted the award at a banquet in Portland recently.

“Winning this award three years in a row is a great victory for us, as well as for Lewiston-Auburn,” Schario said. “To be selected by the readers of Down East Magazine means that you are truly a part of what makes Maine great. It really is an honor.”
