CANTON — Selectmen will conduct an executive session on a legal matter at the start of their regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 9, in the Town Office.

Among the new business items on the agenda is Fire Chief Shane Gallant. He is expected to ask about buying a firetruck with money from the reserve account, Town Clerk Kathy Walker said Wednesday afternoon.

Selectmen will also discuss an opening on the Planning Board. Chairwoman Sue DeGroot resigned and Mike Timberlake was elected to replace her.

Walker said selectmen will also discuss:

* Phyllis Ouellette’s list of “really good ideas to promote the town;”

* Steve Elsman’s property;

* A request by a resident for a deaf sign by their home to alert drivers to their son.

The Town Office will be closed on Saturday, July 11, and an open house for the new Town Office will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 18. Archiving town records by King Info Systems will begin Aug. 31, Walker said.
