FARMINGTON — Following on last year’s successful teen play at the New Hope Baptist Church in Farmington, entitled “Mountains on the Prairie,” the church will present “The Treasure of Your Heart,”  at 7 p.m., Friday, Saturday and Sunday, July 24, 25 and 26, at the New Hope Baptist Church, 268 Perham St. FMI  call 778-6393.

An original play, “The Treasure of Your Heart”  is free and open to the public.

This  year’s play brings back most of the characters from the first and adds a few extras. 

The year is 1853, the setting – the fictional town of Prairie View, Wyoming. The town has suffered through some deep trials but is now starting to get back on its feet. Then Gerti Nickerson (Parker Bachelder), a snobbish, wealthy woman from Boston comes to visit her great-niece, Verna (Janna Winslow). Suddenly Gerti’s expensive jewelry begins to disappear.

The town is in a quandary about the situation so Frank Crandall (Zeke Bishop) decides that he and Russell Smith (Matthew Parker) can solve the problem by becoming detectives. While looking for clues, they are mistakenly identified as the thieves. To complicate the matter, a mysterious stranger arrives shortly afterwards and someone from the town goes missing.

Through it all, members of this small community discover true lasting treasure. A moving drama interwoven with a generous amount of humor.
