SACO, Maine (AP) — A Maine water park has been the target of angry phone calls, emails and social media posts after being confused with a Texas water park with a similar name where employees were accused of bullying an autistic guest.

But officials at Funtown Splashtown USA in Saco (SAH’-koh) say it’s a case of mistaken identity.

Park spokesman Ed Hodgdon says the messages are from people vowing never to bring their families there, and telling park employees they should be ashamed.

Hodgdon said people are confusing his park with Splashtown in San Antonio, where two lifeguards were accused of heckling an autistic boy.

The Maine park took to Facebok to explain the confusion.

The Texas park on Facebook called the allegations an “unfortunate misunderstanding” and said there was no evidence of bullying.
