Join the Denmark Arts Center at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, July 18, as it ventures back in time to revive the music of the Tin Pan Alley days, at turn of the 20th century with the nationally renowned Roochie Toochie and the Ragtime Shepherd Kings. Unearthing the cream of the early-American musical crop has become something of a mission of this five-person ensemble of old-time music enthusiasts. With an eclectic instrumentation that has been known to include a tuned set of squeaky rubber pigs, Roochie Toochie has the wit, flair, and high-energy playing style to keep your feet stomping. Their signature sound—energetic, hilarious and virtuosic—has earned them fans from Denmark to Finland and beyond. The event is BYOB, in cabaret style. Call the arts center at 207-452-2412 to make a reservation. EArlier in the day, at 2 p.m., Roochie Toochie will lead a musical workshop: “How to Make Music Out of Anything.”  Come learn by doing with these titillating troubadours as we spend an afternoon making, and then recording, an original song.  Bring any odd assortment of noisemakers you may wish. Call the arts center at 207-452-2412 or visit denmarkarts.org to sign up!
