FARMINGTON — Expenet co-owner Josh Michaud is excited about the computer repair and accessories store’s expansion to Farmington.
“Farmington is a very self-sustaining town for a lot of small businesses in the area,” he said at a grand opening last Friday.
Michaud, who co-owns Expenet in Wilton with Jeff Chaisson, added, “For awhile, there wasn’t a local computer shop up here.”
“We’re excited. We’re glad to have you here,” said Farmington Town Manager Richard Davis to Michaud.
“We’re glad to see the business grow,” said Franklin County Chamber of Commerce Administrator Penny Meservier.
“Every year, I’ve been amazed at how we’ve been able to grow and expand, adding new services and employees,” said Michaud.
Expenet occupies a space in Farmington at 145 Main St., formerly the home of Maine Retirement Annuities, which is now located next to WKTJ on Broadway. Michaud said he was grateful to Foothills Management owner Bill Marceau for helping direct him to the available business space.
“We actually got in here with a fairly minimal effort,” said Michaud, noting that it had been used as an office space before. New carpet and trim were put in and the walls were re-painted.
The Wilton store will continue to be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., while Expenet’s Farmington hours will be 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturdays. Michaud said that the focus of the Farmington shop will be on retail, with mice, keyboards, accessories, and software available.
“We do plan on filling this a lot more than it currently is,” he said. “If we don’t have something, we can definitely get it. We’ll find out what people like and don’t like, and plan accordingly.”
Expenet also does website design, and fixes cracked iPhones and IPad screens, along with a host of computer repair services.
Residential technicians Jonathan Sloma and Kyle Storer, and commercial technician Ernie Steward have been a big help, said Michaud. Franklin County Chamber of Commerce President and Foster Career and Technical Education Center Director Glenn Kapiloff also noted that Michaud was a former Foster Tech student and had taken in interns from Foster Tech to work at Expenet.
