Mystery photo for August 2, 2015

There were several dozen guesses early in the week, but none of them were correct. After re-posting it on the Sun Journal Facebook page, there were another 50 calls and emails, but only a dozen correctly identified the dam at the confluence of Stony Brook and the Little Androscoggin River in South Paris, next to what many people remembered as The Handy Store, now operating as Doughboys Variety. In a random drawing from the correct entries, Norma Marquis of Lewiston was chosen as the winner of a $10 Dunkin’ Donuts gift card. She knew just where it was as she and friends used to hang out there as teenagers. “There were a couple mills and a nature preserve called Pooduck that I remember,” she said after being notified of her winning.
