RUMFORD — The Mahoosuc Land Trust is hosting their annual Whitecap Gourmet Hike at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, land trust member Jolan Ippolito said.
Ippolito said that every year the Mahoosuc Land Trust invites hikers for a “moderately strenuous hike” up Whitecap Mountain, where they are asked to bring “water, hiking and rain gear, and a gourmet dish of your choice for sharing with other hikers.”
“’Gourmet’ means anything that’s an upgrade from a peanut butter and jelly sandwich,” Ippolito said.
Ippolito said that the Whitecap Gourmet Hike has become a popular event because of the view the trail offers at its summit, and because of the “company and food that is shared.”
