regional champsThe 13U Tri-County Baseball Team, made up of players from towns in Western Maine, won the New England Regional Babe Ruth Championship in Burlington, Vt. last week by beating Arlington, Mass. 2-1. The team will play in the 13U Babe Ruth World Series starting on Aug. 15 in Jamestown, N.Y. The World Series brings the 10 best teams from around the country to compete for a National Championship. The team includes Jonny Pruett, Janek Luksza, Rodney Bean, Cam Godbois, Cody Allen, Wyatt Williamson, Ayden Descantis, Charlie Morton, Dillon Desroches, Tyler Hill and Duncan Hurd. Woodstock’s Wyatt Williamson was the winning pitcher in the championship game. His record on the mound for the year is 16-1. Coaches are Tom Morton, Gary Williamson and Janek Luksza.The New England regional team’s first opponent in the World Series will be California. Said Gary Williamson, “Special thanks go out to Oxford Hills Baseball Program’s Shane Slicer, Joe Oufierio, and Lance Bean. They have always supported these athletes since age 9.
