NEW SHARON — A Wilton man is accused of possessing 1 gram of heroin after he was stopped by a Franklin County sheriff’s deputy Monday for a traffic violation on Mount Hill Road, Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr. said Tuesday.

Detective Stephen Charles arrested Benjamin Soha, 30, on felony charges of possession of heroin and trafficking in heroin, Nichols said.

Deputy Colt Bernhardt stopped the vehicle Soha was driving because it was following another vehicle too closely.

Evidence from the stop led the deputy to request a police dog to respond to the scene, Nichols said.

Cpl. Christopher Chase and his K-9, Abbie, were in the area and conducted the search. One gram of heroin was found, he said.

Soha was being held without bail Tuesday morning at the Franklin County jail in Farmington, a corrections officer said.
