MECHANIC FALLS — It was supposed to be their first show in New England since a tragic nightclub fire at The Station in Rhode Island where they were performing in 2003 claimed 100 lives, but local fans of Jack Russell’s Great White will have to wait for another chance to see the band play again after the lights went out shortly before they were scheduled to go onstage at the Party in the Pasture Rock Fest at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

Steelheart, another 1980s metal band, was nearing the end of its set list and performing the power ballad “She’s Gone” when suddenly the power went out in the area surrounding the Harvest Hill Farm concert venue. Jack Russell’s Great White was scheduled to take the stage immediately following Steelheart’s performance.

After some initial confusion and phone calls to the power company, concert organizers determined that the issue would take hours to resolve, and began to tell people who were waiting to hear the band play that the show would not take place as scheduled. The headliner band said their goodbyes and left the venue. By this time, most of the people waiting to hear them play had also departed.

The cause of the outage could not be determined late Saturday night, but EMS officials on site speculated that it may have been an issue with the transformer at the road near Harvest Hill Farm.

At the gates where people were exiting, concert staff collected names and contact information, though they were unsure at that time how they would use the information or whether ticket purchasers would receive refunds.
