On Aug. 8, 68 members of the Auburn Running Club competed in the Maine USATF Track and Field Championship in Brewer. Olivia Jalbert won the girls 13-14 Turbo-javelin event, setting a new state record with her throw of 118 feet,9 inches.

Seven Auburn Running Club athletes won individual events Matthew Syphers, racewalk; Leighton Girardin, 100 meters; Olivia Jalbert, javelin, Sophie Bilodeau, racewalk, Thea Langelier, hurdles; Dylan Bilodeau, shot put; Addison Bilodeau, racewalk.

Out of 33 scoring teams, Auburn tied for fifth with Old Town. Poland won the meet with 343 points, followed by York 242, Gorham 195.5, Scarborough 189, Auburn and Old Town tied with 188.5 points.

11-12 girls: Thea Langelier (hurdles, 200m, LJ), Molly Sirois (RW), Sarah Brown (100m), Brooklyn Alexander (triple jump, HJ)

11-12 boys: Dylan Bilodeau (SP), Isaac Beers (400m, RW), Alec Beaudin (RW, relay), Cameron Langlois (hurdles, relay), Luis Elwell (SP, relay), Dru Hyndman (relay)

9-10 girls: Peyton Bell (200m, 400m, 800m), Emily Bilodeau (RW, relay), Sydney Lacombe (relay)

9-10 boys: Tanner Berry-Hart (javelin, relay). Quinn St. Peter-Scott (relay)

8 and under girls: Addison Bilodeau (RW, javelin, LJ), Isabel Hayes (100m), Leilani Mitchell (SP), Gabrielle Langelier (relay), Maeve Burgess (relay)

8 and under boys: Brodyn Rodrigue (RW, relay) and Peter Lacombe (RW, relay)

The Auburn Running Club is a summer track and field program sponsored by the Auburn Parks and Recreation Department.

The coaching staff this season included Tom Menendez, Carolyn Court, Rebecca Hefty, Nicole Court-Menendez, Courtney Allen, Lilly Linscott, and several high school volunteers.
