1933 – 2015

CORINTH, N.Y. — Lorraine Y. Maurais, 82, of Harris Road, Corinth, N.Y., passed away Saturday evening, Aug. 22, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on March 30, 1933, in Lewiston, she was the daughter of the late Sidney and Yvonne (Tancrel) Leger. She married Gerard G. Maurais on July 1, 1950, in Lewiston. They moved to Corinth in 1973.

Lorraine enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, ceramics and cooking. She also enjoyed playing guitar and piano for the residents of Westmount Health Center.

She also volunteered for the American Red Cross, visiting shut-ins.

She was a longtime communicant of Holy Mother and Child Parish in Lake Luzerne, N.Y., and had served as the religious education coordinator for many years.

She was predeceased by her parents; two brothers, Sidney Leger Jr. and Laurier Leger; and one sister, Patricia Ann Racine.

Survivors include her loving husband of 65 years, Gerard Maurais; two daughters, Denise Corella and her husband, Tom, of Fort Ann, N.Y., Monique McClure and husband, Bill, of Lancaster, Calif.; three sons, Marc Maurais of Farmington, N.H., Roger Maurais and his wife, Kathy, of Mansfield, Pa., Louis Maurais and his wife, Julie, of Hadley; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Lorraine was a kind and gentle soul who loved her Lord Jesus with all her heart. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother and a loyal friend to all who knew her. We have been blessed with the privilege of having her touch our lives.
