WATERVILLE (AP) — Police say a motorcyclist was critically injured after a crash involving two sport utility vehicles in Kennebec County.
The Morning Sentinel reported (http://bit.ly/1hkbF9r ) the crash occurred Thursday afternoon near the Salvation Army store on College Avenue in Waterville.
Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey says the accident began when one SUV attempted to back out of a driveway, causing the other SUV to stop short to avoid a collision.
Police say when the second SUV stopped, the motorcyclist swerved to avoid it and stuck the back side of the vehicle.
The motorcyclist, who wasn’t wearing a helmet, suffered a serious head injury. The victim was rushed to a Portland area hospital.
Rumsey declined to release the names of those involved, saying the accident is under investigation.
