Transportation issues are important to the people of Auburn, and are doubly so for people like me.

I currently serve as the only municipal transportation engineer in Maine and chair the committee tasked with implementing the state’s largest regional signalized transportation network.

Understanding local and regional transportation matters is a topic that challenges elected officials, policy makers and others who relate to the field. Even more important is making the proper connection between investment in transportation and growing an economy.

Thankfully, Auburn’s mayor, Jonathan LaBonte, has an extensive transportation background, understands its relationships with land use and policy and how to weave all of these toward an inviting environment for economic development opportunities. His depth of knowledge is recognized in other communities and he has shared his expertise around the state.

I hope others will join me come November in voting for Jonathan LaBonte to provide him with another term.

Jeremiah Bartlett, Auburn
