BETHEL — The Mountain Valley Lyme Disease Awareness Coalition will hold its fourth annual Lyme Conference Saturday, Sept. 12.
The daylong event will be held at Telstar Regional High School and is open to the public. A suggested donation of $10 will be accepted.
Registration will begin at 9 a.m. Opening remarks will be given by state Rep. Deb Sanderson, R-Chelsea, at 9:45 a.m. followed by Maine’s own Dr. Bea Szantyr with her Lyme basics, “Tick Talk.” Dr. Alan MacDonald, renowned Lyme disease researcher, will discuss his work, “Bb Research” via satellite.
The afternoon will include “Laughter is the Best Medicine” with Gary Crocker, Maine humorist, and annual award presentations. Dr. Charles Ray Jones will speak about Lyme disease and children. Closing remarks will be presented by Sharon Rose-Vaznis at 4:45 p.m.
Lunch will be available for purchase on site through Crossroads Diner of Bethel. The conference is being recorded by the local access channel WHAT and DVDs can be ordered for $25 plus $5 for shipping and handling.
