RUMFORD — A Mass of Christian Burial for Gertrude “Gert” Downs of Rumford was celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, at Parish of the Holy Savior, St. Athanasius-St. John Church, Rumford, with the Rev. Greg Dube as celebrant. Altar assistant was Bernard Poirier. Organist was Mark Belanger.

Music selections included “Hosea,” “The Old Rugged Cross,” “How Lovely is Your Dwelling Place” and “On Eagle’s Wings.” Readings from the Old and New Testaments were proclaimed by Donna Daily. Prayers of the Faithful were proclaimed by Donna Daily. Presenting the gifts were Tom and Linda Puiia. The Eulogy was presented by Katie Puiia, followed by the poem, “Mommy Dearest,” which was read by Linda Puiia. Bearers were Tom Puiia, Patrick and Matthew Horan, Peter, Brandon and Alan Maranian.

A reception followed the services in the parish hall of the church, served by St. Timothy Circle, Daughters of Isabella.
