NEW SHARON — The commissioner of the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife was not injured Tuesday morning, but his new pickup truck was a total loss after it hit a guardrail on Route 27, Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr. said.

Chandler Woodcock, 66, of Farmington, was driving his 2015 Chevrolet Silverado south toward Augusta when he got into a soft shoulder, went out of control and hit a guardrail, Nichols said.

Woodcock bought the truck not too long ago, Nichols said.

The accident was reported at 7:20 a.m.

Deputy Colt Bernhardt investigated and New Sharon firefighters responded to assist at the scene.
