1931 – 2015

AUBURN — Angela “Angie” (Kushnir) Vallee, 84, of Lewiston passed away Friday, Oct. 9, at the Androscoggin Hospice House with her husband, Richard, by her side.

She was born in Lewiston on May 29, 1931, the daughter of Michael and Anna (Karkos) Kushnir. She attended Lisbon schools, Lewiston schools and later, the Slovak Academy in Pennsylvania.

She worked for many years at Knapp Shoe, where she also served as chairperson of the Recreation Committee and where she love to make pastries for the employees. She also made beautiful fountain cakes for weddings and holidays.

On June 30, 1961, she married Richard Vallee whom she met while working at Knapp Shoe.

A devout Catholic, Angie was a longtime member of the former St. Joseph’s Church, where she shared her beautiful voice while singing in the choir.

Angie enjoyed summer, Knapp Shoe picnics, long rides in the car, watching tennis matches on TV, detective and mystery movies, but most of all, her Persian cat, Raggy, also known as “Beau Chat.”

She also enjoyed visiting her sister, Anna, in Florida, traveling to Mexico, Canada, and Las Vegas. But it was there in Las Vegas that her husband, Richard, agreed to bring her just over the border to California so she could say that she also went to California.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Vallee of Lewiston; and by 29 nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her sisters, Hilda Raymond and Anna Murphy; brother-in-law, Bernard Murphy; and by her brothers, Albert and Bernard Kushnir.
