AUBURN — Woman’s Literary Union of Androscoggin County will host a Halloween costume party Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Foss Mansion, 19 Elm St.

The party offers four sessions, each lasting about an hour and a half: 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. The party is geared toward newborns to 12-year-olds.

Each session includes story time, decorating rock pumpkins, a pumpkin toss game and a costume parade.

Rooms on the first floor of the mansion have been decorated with “unscary” fall decorations. The upstairs living room will feature haunted house-type decorations for older boys and girls who enjoy a little spooky.

“WLU club members have been planning this event for weeks including gathering and crafting Halloween and fall-themed items such as wreaths, American Girl doll costumes to sell in the BOO-tique, recruiting volunteers to work during the event and bakers to make goodies for each costumed visitor to take home after the party, and soliciting donations of items to be raffled during the party,” said Betty Turgeon, co-chair of the event.

The group is also seeking donated raffle items. Raffle basket themes include children’s arts and crafts supplies, Legos, local kid-friendly restaurant gift cards, Pokemon and costumes. Volunteers are needed for setup, helping with the games and other tasks.
