DEAR READERS: A reader had written in to Sun Spots recently asking when the new IHOP on Turner St. in Auburn would open. The date has changed since we answered that question. On its Facebook page, IHOP has announced that “due to recent modifications, IHOP will be opening the week of the 19th. The date will soon be announced.”

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I just wanted to write you to thank you for your help with my problem regarding my IRS tax refund that had been held in limbo due to hacking of the IRS website. Using the resources you provided, within a month of my letter to you I had my refund. I would like to let eveyone know that the Maine Taxpayers Advocate Service was wonderful and was the push in my receiving my refund so quickly. Their phone number is 877-777-4778 and they responded immediately. Thanks again. — Linda C. in Auburn.

HI SUN SPOTS: On Saturday, Oct. 3, we had a garage sale at 133 Baxter Avenue in Auburn. A lady bought a complete crib set with a matching mobile. We still have the musical attachment for the mobile she left behind. She can reach us at 207-783-0056 and leave a message. Thank you. — Gard L. in Auburn.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Locke Mills Union Church in Greenwood has approximately eight to 10 light blue choir robes plus a number of gold robes in a variety of sizes to give away. If any one is interested in them, call 207-875-2451. Thank you. — Hazel C. in Greenwood.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine is looking for volunteers to cut material and to sew bonnets, port covers, pillows, etc. for those affected by cancer.

Our first meeting will be from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Oct. 14, at Sew Orchid Design Quilt Shop, 316 Main Street, in Norway, across from the post office. Here, we will cut out the patterns and package them for people to sew either at the shop or take home to sew. There are three opportunities a month to join us: from 10 a.m. to noon on the second and fourth Wednesday; and from 4-7 p.m. on the third Wednesday of the month. Hopefully one of these times will fit into your schedule. You are always invited to pick up a packet to take home to sew at your convenience.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: My daughter is an inmate at Androscoggin County jail, and they have been allowed to crochet for charities. If anyone has any yarn to donate, I can take it or you can take it right to the jail. The ladies in this group have found there are fewer arguments and fighting in their groups. They feel a little more self worth, that we know is badlly needed. Thank you, and God bless. Call 207-373-8945 for more information.
