The Public Theatre opens its 25th season Friday with a heart-pounding new adaptation of the classic thriller “Wait Until Dark.” The play runs Oct. 16-25, at the theater, 31 Maple St., Lewiston. Imagine the suspense of Hitchcock and the fun of an amusement park ride, when a blind woman unexpectedly finds herself alone in her apartment with a sinister group of con men. Can she outmaneuver her tormentors by turning her disability to her advantage? Performances are Oct. 16, 17, 18, 22, 23, 24, 25; on Thursdays and Fridays at 7:30 p.m., on Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m., with and added Saturday matinee on Oct. 23, at 3 p.m. For tickets visit thepublictheatre.org or call 782-3200. A free, pre-show wine-tasting will be held on Thursday, Oct., 22, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
