DEAR SUN SPOTS: My name is Emily Marquis, event coordinator for FreeportUSA, the destination marketing association for Freeport. Each year we host Sparkle Weekend, Freeport’s festive holiday celebration. This year it will be held on Dec. 4-6. The weekend is chock full of fun events for the whole family.

One of the signature events is a Sparkle Express Train Adventure to Brunswick and back on the Amtrak Downeaster. We are looking for three to four people involved in theater who might be willing to board the Sparkle Express in Brunswick, dressed as Santa, elves, reindeer or other holiday characters. This would be from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5. The Amtrak will offer one round-trip ticket per volunteer. For more information, email emily@freeportusa.com

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I want to join the many readers who have expressed their appreciation for the very meaningful assistance you have provided us. At this time I am hoping you might list the names of eight members of the 1951 Edward Little graduates in order that we may alert them to our upcoming 65th class reunion next June.

The names of the missing classmates are Norman E. Berube, Janice Sewall Pitts, Jane Varnum Lafontaine, Ernestine Danforth Greenwood, Barbara Dickey Pollard, Jeanette Johnson Breiding, Marcia Allen Bradbury and Bruce Woodard.

We are fortunate to have so few missing graduates. Over all these years we have remained close and strong in the support of Edward Little High School as witnessed by the $5,000 annual scholarship we award to a graduating senior who has made exceptional contributions to E.L.’s art programs.

We are currently conducting a class campaign in support of the refurbishing of the historic Edward Little statue and to date have raised $4,500. Again, we extend our deep appreciation for all that Sun Spots means to Sun Journal readers. My contact is Bob Gardner at 207-786-0720 or bookabook@roadrunner.com.
