River Valley Roast Nov. 5

GREENE — Leavitt Area High school will host the River Valley Roast from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, at the Greene Grange Hall.

The Roast is a hometown harvest supper with roasted pork, chicken and farm fresh veggies. 

Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and $5 for children younger than 10. Proceeds from the dinner will go to starting an FFA chapter at Leavitt Area High school students.

Library to host Kate Braestrup

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Public Library will host Kate Braestrup at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, at Callahan Hall.

Braestrup will read from her recent memoir, “Anchor & Flares: a memoir of motherhood, hope & service.” A book sale and signing will follow the reading.

Gospel music concert in Lewiston

LEWISTON — The Hyssongs will present a concert of gospel music at 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, at the South Lewiston Baptist Church, 1919 Lisbon Road.

Dell, Susan and Richard Hyssong travel full-time as the award-winning Hyssongs. The group has been singing together for more than 19 years, featuring inspirational Southern Gospel music.

Veterans photography exhibit at APL

AUBURN — The Auburn Public Library will present a moving art display of pinhole photographs taken by U.S. military veterans that attest to the healing power of art at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10.

The public is invited to the opening of the exhibit “To Bridge the Gap: Loss and Re-Creation of Identity.” Artists will talk about the project.

Organizer and artist Adam Ogden worked closely with veterans using the power of art as a means of emotional therapy.

Ogden said the project has helped veterans regain their grasp on who they are and provides exercise for their hands, their eyes and their minds.

Auburn Exchange Club hosting veteran’s luncheon

LEWISTON — The Auburn Exchange Club will host a free veteran’s luncheon at noon Tuesday, Nov. 10, at the Grene Ladle, 156 East Ave.

An Italian buffet will be cooked and served by students in the culinary arts program. The ROTC cadets will present the colors. All veterans of any branch and conflict as well as guests are welcome.

There will be a speaker on a topic of interest to all veterans.
