AUBURN — Three adults and a child were transported to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston after a two-car collision at Turner Street and Lake Auburn Avenue just before noon Thursday.

Battalion Chief Scott Hunter of the Auburn Fire Department said Melissa Flagg, 39, of Norway was turning left onto Lake Auburn Avenue when her car was hit by another driven by Gardner Abbott, 60, of Auburn.

Abbott was unable to see the Escort because of sun glare, according to Hunter.

The Auburn police accident report cites Abbott as being distracted by his cellphone at the time of the crash.

Passengers with Flagg were Todd Labbe, 29; Lisa Thurlow, 49; and Adrianna Westleigh, 3. The four were transported to CMMC for evaluation.

Abbott was not injured.

Flagg’s 1998 Ford Escort sedan and Abbott’s 2006 Mercury Montego were towed from the scene.

Auburn Police Department and Auburn Fire Department responded to the accident.

“C” Platoon handled an MVA this morning that occured at the intersection of Lake Auburn and Turner Street. Several transported with minor injuries.
