WLU hosting floral workshop
AUBURN — The Woman’s Literary Union will host a “hands on” floral workshop lead by Heidi Audet Tuesday, Nov. 24.
Members and guests are asked to bring their own container to make a fresh Thanksgiving table arrangement.
The cost for this workshop is $18 for members and $25 for guests. Pre-registration is required.

Post 135 holding veterans ceremony
SABATTUS — The Lisbon Quilters group in conjunction with the Sabattus American Legion Post 135 will present a Quilt of Valor to veterans who had been nominated by family and friends in the local communities on Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11.
Quilts of Valor is a national program where more than 125,260 quilts have been awarded to members of all branches of the service. Approximately 12 quilts will be presented. The program is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at the American Legion Hall on the Island Road in Sabattus.
Family and friends of the selected veterans are invited to attend. The Sabattus American Legion Auxiliary will be providing light refreshments following the ceremony.
Our Lady of the Rosary craft Fair
SABATTUS — Our Lady of the Rosary will host a Christmas craft fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 13 and 14, at Maxwell-Gill Hall on 131 High St.
Nineteen tables of local crafters/vendors will include Scentsy, Origami Owl, stained-glass crafts, knitted items, hand-painted gifts and more.
There will be a free photo opportunity with Santa Claus from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, including a small gift. A lobster roll lunch will be served.
There will be a basket raffle, where themed baskets are raffled off, including five $100 money trees. This year, there will be a silent auction with donations and gift cards from over 15 local businesses. There will also be a 50/50 raffle and bake sale. The drawings will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Entrants do not need to be present to win.
Open Mic & Poetry Slam
AUBURN — The Pleasant Note Coffeehouse will present Open Mic & Poetry Slam at the First Universalist Church of Auburn, 169 Pleasant St., at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13.
Since 2006, this free monthly show has drawn people of all ages who share the spirituality of music and spoken word.

Fiddlehead hosting parents’ night
GRAY — The Fiddlehead Art & Science Center will host Parents’ Night Out on Friday, Nov. 13, and Dec. 18.
Both evenings will run from 5:30 to 9 p.m.
Children are welcome to join for an evening including an art project, pizza and a movie. The cost is $25 for the first child, $20 for each additional child.

Swingin’ Bears to dance
SOUTH PARIS — The Swingin’ Bears Square Dance Club’s next dance will be from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, in the cafeteria of the Oxford Hills Middle School, 100 Pine St.
The caller for the square dance will be Don Bachelder, calling a mainstream and plus-level dancing. The round dance cuer will be Bernie Porter.
There will be door prizes and a 50/50 drawing. Refreshments will be served. Hosts/hostesses for the dance will be Melody Cox, Robert Weaver and Ellen and Richie Janerico.
Admission costs $7 per person, nondancers are invited to come at no charge.
Local DAR chapter to meet
SABATTUS — The Mary Dillingham-Burnt Meadow Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at the Sabattus American Legion, 40 Island Road.
The speaker will be Willie Danforth.
Those attending should bring a bag lunch. Prospective members are welcome to attend.
AMVETS Post 6 public dance
NEW GLOUCESTER — A public dance will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at AMVETS Post 6, Route 100.
Music will be provided by Steve and the Good Old Boys.

AUBURN — A holiday fair will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at Danville Union Church, 1065 Old Danville Road.

LISBON FALLS — Lisbon Falls Church of the Nazarene, 184 Main St., will host a whoopie pie contest from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14. The cost to be a tasting judge is $2.
