LISBON — The Town Council and residents applauded over 20 third- and fourth-grade peewee football players Tuesday night on their second Central Maine Football League state championship.

The team was an underdog at the beginning of the season, losing the first three games and scoring no touchdowns.

“No quit,” is the team’s motto, coach Chris Camp said.

“It was really cool when we won against Maranacook,” said Brady Keefe, who celebrated his ninth birthday last weekend. Keefe is the team’s center.

The Parks and Recreation seventh- and eighth-grade football team was also commended for winning the championship in its division. They were undefeated during the regular season.

“You all stepped up as a team,” Town Clerk Twila Lycette said.
