JAY — Police said a Wilton man is accused of choking a woman while she was driving from Auburn to Wilton on Wednesday.

The 43-year-old victim pulled into the Jay Police Station as officers were changing shifts, Sgt. Russell Adams said. A patrolman was in the parking lot when the vehicle arrived.

Marks were visible on the woman’s neck, Adams said.

Officer Dylan Rider arrested Jason Jarvis, 29, on a felony charge of domestic violence aggravated assault, Adams said. Officer Troy Reed and Wilton officer Brian Lynch assisted Rider.

A conviction on the charge carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.

Jarvis is being held without bail at the Franklin County jail in Farmington. He is scheduled to appear before a judge on Friday.
