1941 – 2015

WINTHROP — Joyce I. (Snow) Milliken, 74, of Livermore Falls went to meet the Lord with her children by her side on Thursday, Nov. 19, after a brief stay at The Heritage Rehabilitation and Living Center in Winthrop.

She was born March 5, 1941.

She is survived by her four children, Pamela J. Barnes of Livermore Falls, Vernon F. Milliken III of Gray, Gregory A. Milliken of South Portland, and Darren J. Milliken of Durham; three grandchildren, Brandon M. Green of Telluride, Colo., and David B. and Brenna N. Milliken of Gray.

Joyce is also survived by her brother, Gary Snow of Naples; her wonderful aunt, Louise Foley of Phoenix, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews.

Joyce was predeceased by her sisters, Barbara Hart, Kathryn Pierce, Leona Waterman and Arlene May; and brother, Forest Snow.

Joyce’s hometown is New Gloucester. She has worked many different jobs, including as a secretary at Osteopathic Hospital, Copp Motors and the Opportunity Farm. Joyce also was a waitress at Verrillo’s Convention Center, Cole Farms and Deering Ice Cream. She owned a hot dog stand at Crystal Lake. At the age of 13, she made the wedding cake for her brother, Fod and his wife, Lillian, plus many specialty cakes for family and friends.

The best gift she gave her children was always talking about all the things we did when we were young, and we all laughed so hard we cried. That is a family trait that will continue as we gather together.
