LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens met on Nov. 16 at the Green Ladle for their annual Thanksgiving luncheon and meeting.

After a turkey lunch, the general membership meeting was held. The slate of nominated officers for 2016 was read, and the voting will take place at the December meeting. November birthdays were recognized.

Hats, mittens and unwrapped toys will be collected until the week before Christmas and then delivered to Safe Voices.

The annual Christmas party will be held at CJ Hall on Webster Street at noon Monday, Dec. 7. A brief meeting will be held and entertainment will follow. There will be Christmas gifts and the winners of the Christmas raffle will be selected. Tickets for the raffle are available in the office.

The Seniors offer many daily activities, including bingo. The Seniors meet the first and third Wednesday of every month and every month following the monthly meetings after the luncheons. Those interested in any activity should contact the office at 207-513-3059 for more information.

May 14 to 22, 2016, a trip to Chicago including eight nights and 14 meals. Highlights include a tour of Chicago, cruise on the Chicago River, historic Navy Pier, John Hancock Observatory and the Art Institute of Chicago;

June 26 to July 2, 2016, to Niagara Falls and Toronto including six nights and 10 meals. Highlights include a tour of Niagara Falls and Toronto, visits to Casa Loma and Niagara-on-the-Lake and a journey to the Falls;

Sept. 5 to 13, 2016, to Treasures of Northern California including airfare and 12 meals. Highlights are San Francisco, Yosemite National Park, Sacramento, Lake Tahoe, Sonoma Wine Country and the Napa Valley Wine Train;

Nov. 11 to 21, 2016, to the Branson Christmas Extravaganza in Branson, Mo., including 10 nights and 18 meals. Highlights include seven Branson shows and a cruise on the Branson Belle showboat.
