STRONG — Girl Scout Troop No. 1531 participated in events honoring local veterans.
The Girl Scouts went to the Portland Jetport to welcome back 45 veterans from an Honor Flight on Nov. 1.
The Girl Scouts held a dinner to honor local veterans on Nov. 7. The girls and adult volunteers prepared beef stew, coleslaw and biscuits with apple crisp and whipped cream. Local Veterans and their families were invited and the attendance included Bud Haggan from World War II, 25 Veterans of the Vietnam War and two Veterans from Desert Storm and more recent conflicts. The Girl Scouts sang “America the Beautiful” and served the dinner.
The girls went to Edgewood Manor in Farmington on Nov. 11 to sing patriotic songs. After singing, they visited with everyone and shared some snacks.
