LEWISTON — The Downeasters, a men’s chorus of 50-plus voices, will present An Evening of A Cappella at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, at The Franco Center.

 Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for children and seniors over 65. 

The concert will benefit Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.

It’s the Downeasters’ kickoff for its 50th anniversary year.

Based in Yarmouth, the Downeasters is an award winning, international-qualifying chorus. Their repertoire features four-part close harmony with rich emotional melodies.

The first half of the show features popular non-holiday numbers, according to Miles Hunt, a member of the chorus and its vice president of public relations and marketing. That part of the program includes “I Will Go Sailing No More” (from “Toy Story”), “You’ll Never Walk Alone” (from “Carousel”), “Longest Time” (Billy Joel), “Love Me” (Elvis Presley), “I’m Gonna Live ’Til I Die” (Frank Sinatra), and “If I Loved You” (from “Carousel”).

The holiday music in the second half will be “Go Tell It On the Mountain,” “Jingle Bell Rock,” “O Holy Night,” “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” “Silent Night,” “Angels We Have Heard on High,” “O Little Town of Bethlehem” and “Do You Hear What I Hear?”

The four chapter quartets of the Downeasters will also present holiday songs.

Established in 1966, Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice provides residents of Maine with high-quality home health, hospice, and supportive care. Based in Lewiston, AHCH is a nonprofit organization serving the counties of Androscoggin, Franklin, Oxford, North Cumberland, Kennebec and parts of Sagadahoc and Somerset.
