1957 – 2015
SEATTLE, Wash. — Peter Joseph Roane, 58, of 12720 Riviera Place NE, died Wednesday, Dec. 2.
He was born in Bath on June 5, 1957, son of Priscilla L. (Brown) Roane and Paul M. Roane Sr. He attended schools in Bath, and graduated from Morse High School in 1976. He furthered his education, graduating from Central Maine Community College with a degree in electromechanical technology in 1981 and the Bath Iron Works apprentice program in 1985.
Peter worked at Bath Iron Works for 21 years, starting as an electrician in the maintenance department, then as a designer in the engineering department and back to the maintenance department as chief planner. After BIW, he worked at The Home Depot in Topsham until February 2006, leaving due to his ALS.
In his spare time he loved working on racing cars; starting in 1979 he raced his cars at autocrosses with the Cumberland Motor Club and ice-raced with New Meadows Ice Racing Association. Between his racing, he found time to build two homes, first one in 1985 in Brunswick and the second in 1991 in West Bath.
Surviving are Teresa Weiss and her husband, Christopher, of Seattle, Wash.; Wynn Cowley of Kennebunkport; brother, Paul M. Roane Jr. and his wife, Sally; and nieces, Mollie and Jenna of Brunswick; a brother, George Roane of Lewiston; a sister, Kathie Davis and her husband, Keith, of Auburn; nieces, Tiffany Back of Boston, Mass., and Kristina Bradigan of Lewisburg, Pa.; a brother, Thomas A. Roane and his wife, Jean, of Sabattus; brother, Stephen A. Roane and his wife, Marty, and their children, Lisa and Alan of Ashtabula, Ohio.
He is predeceased by his parents; and a brother, Francis J. Roane.
