WILTON — An underlying medical condition caused a Weld woman to lose control of her car and crash on Route 2 Sunday evening, according to police.

Carol Frederick, 76, was driving a 2011 GMC truck east near the Pond Road when it went off the road into a ditch about 5:21 p.m., Wilton Police Chief Heidi Wilcox said Monday.

Frederick was injured and taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington by a NorthStar ambulance. From there, she was flown to another hospital, Wilcox said. The extent of injuries and hospital location were not available, she said.

Frederick was alone and no other vehicles were involved.

Dixfield police received a complaint on Frederick’s vehicle for erratic operation as she passed through that area, likely affected by the medical condition, Wilcox said.

Members of Wilton Fire Department, Wilton police, NorthStar Ambulance and a Dixfield police officer responded to the scene.
