Mystery photo for January 3, 2016

There were only a few correct answers for last week’s mystery photo of the building at the corner of Walnut and Bates streets in Lewiston. Today, the building is owned by Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center and is home to a food pantry, nutrition center, Lots to Gardens and a number of other healthy living programs. In a random drawing of the correct responses, Carolyn Burke of Lewiston was chosen as the winner of a $10 Subway gift card. She knew where it was because she went to first grade in the building when it was a parochial school. The old Wallace School was built in 1908. At one time, it was used by St. Dominic’s High School and, eventually, sold to St. Mary’s.
