1938 – 2016

FAYETTE — Corliss A. “Hannah” Elliott, 77, of Fayette, died on Friday, Jan. 1, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Hannah was born on Sept. 30, 1938, in Epping, N.H., the second oldest child of William and Nellie (Denyou) Currier. She grew up in New Hampshire where she received her education. Hannah married Augustus “Gus” Elliott on Nov. 19, 1955.

Hannah was a true homemaker who took pride in caring for her family. With nine children to care for, she was a wonderful mother who knew how keep everyone clothed, fed and happy. She was most known for her homemade yeast rolls and her honey-dipped doughnuts which attracted many neighborhood kids throughout the years. During Thanksgiving, she would make an average of 24 pies — one year she made 36! For most of her life, Hannah cooked everything on a hot wood stove, even in the summertime. In her spare time, she enjoyed going to to play Bingo with her girls. Hannah was simple, to the point and old school; true matriarch in every sense of the word.

She is survived by her children, Bonnie King and her husband, Joseph, of Jay, Alan Elliott and his girlfriend, Kim Folsom, of Dixfield, Nancy Jewette and her husband, Kevin, of Fayette, Laurie Mitchell of Livermore Falls, Augustus Elliott Jr., and his wife, Molly, of Canton, Jeanne Jewett and her husband, Randy, of North Jay, Don Elliott and his wife, Wendy, of Fayette, and Ginger and Paul Pomerleau of Jay; siblings, Jeanne Parshley of Epping, N.H., Judy Mandigo of Concord, N.H., William Currier Jr. and his wife, Joanne, of Freemont, N.H., and James “Deke” Currier of Northwood, N.H.; grandchildren, Scott King of Livermore Falls, Joe King Jr. of Livermore Falls, Nate Elliott of Dixfield, Yogi Hiscock of Auburn, Mike Levesque of Epping, N.H., Matt Levesque of Lincoln, Kara Dube of Augusta, Brian Dolloff of Jay, Shawn Ready of Livermore Falls, Travis Knight of Jay, Augustus Elliott III of Brewer, Ryan Pease of Berwick, Beckah Austin, Chris Jewett of Jay, and Kyle Elliott of Fayette; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her lifetime companion, Augustus “Gus” Elliott in June 2015; a daughter, Donna Dube; and a sister, Nancy Quintal.
