1922 – 2016

SCARBOROUGH — George A. Dennison Jr. passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 2, with family by his side at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Scarborough.

Just turning 93 on Thursday, Dec. 24, he lived a great life. Our father served proudly in the U.S. Army and protected our freedom in World War II and the Korean War.

He worked for NCR and then started his owned company, Dennison Business Forms. After retirement, he worked for the Maine Turnpike at the Gray and Auburn tolls, until he was 80 years old.

While serving as chairman of school board for Lake Region School district, he arranged to have the National Guard build an athletic field for the students. A sign was dedicated in his name. Our dad was also a 32nd Mason and a member of the the Kora Shriners in Lewiston.

He was a graduate of Deering High School, a longtime resident of Gray and a member of the Cole Farm’s counter crew.

George and his deceased ex-wife, H. Jean Dennison, are both survived by their three daughters, Anne E. Dennison, Lynn A. Dennison Grovo and her husband, Skip Grovo, and Carol J. Dennison. He was the proud grandfather of five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren, with a third on the way; and predeceased by son, Brett.

Our family appreciates the amazing care he received at the Maine Veterans’ home and the honor flag departure ceremony.

We ask that you remember our dad by raising a glass in his memory.
