1931 – 2015

LEWISTON — James L. Dyer Sr., 84, of Auburn, died at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston on Thursday, Dec. 31, with his family at his side.

James was born on Jan. 21, 1931, in Lewiston, the son of Fred Dyer Sr. and Nora Collins Dyer. He was educated in local schools. He married Priscilla Gosselin on Oct. 6, 1950.

Prior to his retirement, he worked at several local shoe companies and at Country Kitchen bakery. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. In his earlier years he loved hunting and fishing, especially with his oldest grandson, Greg.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Priscilla of Auburn; and his sister, Ethel McKenzie of Hebron; by his three children, daughter Jamie Pelletier and her husband, Bert, of Turner; his son, James “Larry” Dyer Jr. and his fiancee, Suzanne Culleton, of Greene; and his youngest daughter, Dina Landry and her husband, David, of Barrington, N.H.; six grandchildren, Gregory Gilbert Jr., Brandon, Sean and Brittany Dyer, Derik and Danielle Landry; one great-granddaughter, Kayleigh Gilbert.

He was predeceased by his parents, his brother and five sisters.
