AUBURN — The Androscoggin Beekeepers Club will meet Wednesday, Jan. 13, at the vestry of the West Auburn Congregational Church, 811 West Auburn Road.

The club will no longer be meeting at Edward Little High School in Auburn.

Club business will be conducted from 6:30 to 7 p.m., followed by a presentation by professional beekeeper Tony Batchelder.

Batchelder is a commercial beekeeper in Buckfield, who began extracting honey over 40 years ago. He has supplied honey bees and sage beekeeping advice to local beekeepers for many years.

The presentation will focus on the causes behind Maine hive loss — from winter hive survival of small hobbyist apiaries to the larger-scale problems experienced by commercial hives that come into Maine for spring crop pollination.

Batchelder’s presentation is open to the public.
