LEWISTON — Julie Breau of Auburn is the featured artist for the month of January at Wicked Illustrations Studio and Gallery, 140 Canal St.

Breau has always been creative. Her pastime became a passion as her work was accepted in several juried exhibitions in central and southern Maine. She is part of the area’s growing art community and has volunteered to help with local art walks.

While enjoying the Maine outdoors —   going to the beach, hiking, biking and skiing, Breau snaps pictures of the beauty around her. She then uses her photos to capture scenes she loves with her paintbrush. She works primarily in oil on canvas. Among scenes of flowers, landscapes, water scapes and even a rusty, old truck, one feels as if they could step into her paintings.

Breau’s work will be on display through the month of January. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
